New Zealand Travel Hampered By High Fuel Prices

New Zealand Travel Hampered By High Fuel Prices

The high cost of fuel is expected to hamper the travel plans of many New Zealand families this Easter. People may consider not traveling as far or at all over the break due to this factor. Responses to a tvnz.co.nz message board indicated that many New Zealanders will be staying at home over the long weekend. Many said that their Easter break trips were the first thing to cut out of the family budget.

Still, traffic volumes on roads north of Auckland are expected to increase 50% over the four-day weekend, and motorists are advised to plan their travel accordingly to avoid delays and congestion. While the numbers are unlikely to exceed 100,000 cars as they did at this time last year, the busiest section of State Highway One is still expected to be the Northern Gateway Toll road between Puhoi and Warkworth, north of Auckland.
