The high cost of fuel is expected to hamper the travel plans of many New Zealand families this Easter. People may consider not traveling as far or at all over the break due to this factor. Responses to a tvnz.co.nz message board indicated that many New Zealanders will be staying at home over the long weekend. Many said that their Easter break trips were the first thing to cut out of the family budget.

Still, traffic volumes on roads north of Auckland are expected to increase 50% over the four-day weekend, and motorists are advised to plan their travel accordingly to avoid delays and congestion. While the numbers are unlikely to exceed 100,000 cars as they did at this time last year, the busiest section of State Highway One is still expected to be the Northern Gateway Toll road between Puhoi and Warkworth, north of Auckland.

Why not travel to Auckland when it is fast emerging as one of the most beautiful tourist attractions in the world? Known for its ivy green hills, icy lakes and stony cliffs, it is also considered a fast progressing country in the world.
One of the main reasons to travel to Auckland is to visit the picturesque Hauraki Gulf in New Zealand's summer months when the atmosphere is relaxed and cool. So, if you really have plans to travel to Auckland, then don't forget to book a room at Mollies, which is situated at a hilltop.
Also don't forget to shop at Newmarket and Parnell Village, if your plans to travel to Auckland get materialized.
Your plans to travel to Auckland will become very successful if you shop from these two places.

Christchurch, New Zealand Still a Top Holiday Spot

According to a new survey, Christchurch remains one of the top New Zealand destinations for domestic travel, despite the devastating earthquake in February that caused damage to many parts of that city. Wellington topped the list of favorite travel destinations in the country, followed by Auckland, Queenstown, Christchurch, and Nelson.

Christchurch, also known as the Garden City, did drop in the ratings from third place following the quake. Christchurch still has much to offer tourists, and with the ski season approaching it will likely see an even greater increase in holiday visitors. The city remains an important gateway to some of the South Island's top ski runs. Of those New Zealanders living outside of Christchurch, 28% said they plan to visit the city within the next year, and 60% said that the earthquake had not affected their desire to visit Christchurch.
